Rick Young, equipment and business writer for SCORE Golf Magazine in Canada, announced his annual Younger Awards that includes 23 awards in several major categories, including Product of the Year and Company of the Year.

Young named Adams Golf as the Golf Company of the Year for 2013. All of us at Adams appreciate Rick’s recognition and the great work that he and SCORE Golf Magazine produce for the golf industry in Canada.

The Winner: Adams Golf

My take: Few industry analysts could have predicted the eventual outcome of TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s acquisition of Adams Golf in March 2012. Some of us were skeptical, others hopeful, but ultimately question marks of where and how TMaG CEO Mark King and his team would position Adams seemed more than justified. All of them seemingly have been answered – especially in 2013. Wisely, and with great instincts in my opinion, TMaG has left Adams alone in Plano, Texas and the results speak for themselves. With new president John Adams at the helm, Adams had an amazing year in 2013 making a big comeback in several equipment categories while enhancing its foothold in others. At the top of the list was the mid-year introduction of a new Tight Lies fairway wood. Along the way it forged a very cool business partnership with Southwest Airlines that inspired a consumer demo initiative called Easy Million; maintained and enhanced its reputation as an industry leader in hybrids; got a decent year from its Champions Tour tour staff AND it unveiled a complete overhaul of its brand with a new logo and new colours. Add it all up and it was a monster year for the Adams Golf team in Plano. Honourable mentions to Nike Golf and Titleist-FootJoy.
