Tom Watson, the 8-time major champion and golf legend, has been selected as the captain of the 2014 U.S. Ryder Cup team. Tom has had great success as a player in the Ryder Cup and also previously as a captain in 1993 when the U.S. team defeated Europe at the Belfrey. That year was also the last time the American squad won on foreign soil. Tom’s expertise and ability to win time and time again across the Atlantic is no secret. He’s won 5 British Opens and will, no doubt, use his knowledge and strategy to lead his U.S. team at Gleneagles in Scotland.

Tom has been the face of Adams and our global ambassador for over 13 years. As a company, we couldn’t be more proud to have him represent our brand and congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.

“Tom Watson is one of golf’s all-time great champions and gentlemen. Given his incredible pedigree with five Claret Jugs and eight major championships, Tom is the ideal choice to bring the Ryder Cup back to the United States – as he did in 1993,” said John Ward, Adams Golf President. “Tom’s strong competitive drive and golf acumen have been instrumental in making Adams Golf stronger throughout the 13 years he has been our ambassador. Those qualities will serve him well as the 2014 United States Ryder Cup Captain. Good luck Captain Watson!”

We will be sending a commemorative gift to Tom – this Ryder Cup-themed Adams driver. Congratulations again Tom!
